On Last Song Syndrome

My life is a sick cycle. I think I am doomed to repeat mistake after mistake.

“What if this is as good as it gets?” – Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets

Anyways, around three years ago, this exact same month, I first heard this song by Sugar Free. The events that transpired just a few hours back inspired me to listen to this song again. Due to the state of my being, this song applies again to my current mood. Besides, I liked Sugar Free more before they broke into the mainstream. You be the judge. Listen to the song. Read the lyrics. If you know me, see how it relates to my being. If you don’t know me, try and see if this song can relate to you and feel free to tell me how or where it just hits you hardest.

Mariposa
Sugar Free

The Song and Bullet Wound Analogy

When a song penetrates through a permeable surface and lodges itself deep within you, it becomes a bullet that cannot be removed. No matter how hard you try to forget that it’s there, it will remain there. It will be quiet most of the time, and when something happens, like let’s say your body reacts to it or some part of ourselves react to it’s presence, we are all of a sudden reminded of it’s being a part of us.

But it’s not sad.

Not always.

One simple event or one simple decision or a simple scene that flashes through our minds, we are reminded that it’s just there.

Wired

Oh yeah. We’ve got cable again. Hello old movies, F1 and NBA games. Not to forget the music channels and other intruiging programs not available in public TV.
