THOUGHTS

Outside, the world went on.
And you watched it from the corner window,
Splendid and beautiful, in my dark blue shirt,
Your back turned and your hair let down.

Outside, we left the world cold,
Showered and battered with rain and wind.
I join you as we both watch life not mind,
Two souls free from the reality bind.

“Come here,” I whispered.
And you faced me instantly, without hesitation.
The space between slowly closed into nothing,
The silence broken by the sound of lips locking.

Outside, the world went on.
Inside, our world had erupted in flames of passion.
They burned in every touch, kiss and whispered word,
And our bodies joined and trembled and spasmed.

Outside, we left the world cold,
Showered and battered with rain and wind.
As we lay together breathless, we knew life would not mind,
That in our love, we are free from reality’s bind.
