On Thick Blankets and Lying on the Floor in a Comforter…
beneath the cool air,
the thick sheets sheltering us..
our fingers entwine, thus filling gaps.
in silence, waiting for sleep to come…
i watch as you slowly drift,
away from me and into slumber.
your breathing soft…slow…peaceful.
into the land of dreams you enter.
your lips, kissed with a sweet smile…
your form curled up like a child,
hair beautifully ruffled on your cheeks.
beauty and peace, both yours, leaves me sleepless…
I say a prayer for a child lost.
I say a prayer for a mother weeping inside her facade of strength and fortitude.
I say a prayer for healing of a family long shattered and broken.
And of course, I say a prayer for you… and for us…
