At times, the Internet can be a time machine, or a vault that gives us a link to the past.
A Flickr group I stumbled upon has collected quite a bit of old photos of Manila and the Philippines in general. One group member from the US showed a bit of passion for what the old Manila had and strong sentiments about the destruction that the Second World War brought upon us and leaving us alone to pick up the pieces.
Makes me wonder if someone not Filipino can feel this way about our past and pride, why can’t we feel just a little bit like he does?
True, there is no use living in the past, but how can we ever learn from our mistakes without looking into the past and learning from it?
